Administrative History | St James', North Cray is one of the six ancient churches lying within the London Borough of Bexley. North Cray was always a small village and, as early as 1557, the Parish was combined with that of St Botolph, Ruxley, the remains of which church lie just south of the old Maidstone Road in the London Borough of Bromley. The Local Government Act 1894 transferred the civil functions of the Parish Vestry to North Cray Parish Council. In 1934 the Parish Council was absorbed into Chislehurst and Sidcup Urban District Council. In 2001 the benefice was united with that of All Saints, Foots Cray. |
