Administrative History | The Erith School Board was created under the Elementary Education Act 1870 to establish and administer non -demonination public elementary schools in Erith in addition to the various Church and private schools already in existence. As with other Local Authorities the members of the Board were elected by local ratepayers. The Education Act 1902 transfered the Board's powers to Kent County Council. From 1902 to 1937 Erith Urban District Council shared the adminstration of its school with Kent County Council. From 1937, when Erith gained Borough status, to 1946, Kent County Council delegated the admistration of Erith school to the Borough Council. |
